Flash Drives
I just bought this 2GB SanDisk Cruzer flash drive for around $70. My idea was to dump all my dev work on it so I can have a portable Apache/JBoss/MySQL server. That way I dont have to maybe lug my laptop back and forth from home. Plus, I’ll need set up some kinda syncing, just incase I loose it. Maybe look into so type of encryption just for the hell of it. I might just end up filling it with mp3’s anyways.
I got a car stereo for my gf with a USB jack that can play mp3s and wmas. It seems like a good idea. It works well. I wonder how long it will take, or if solid state non-volatile memory devices will become cheaper per storage unit than hard drives. I guess they’d also have to use less power and have faster transfer rates all at the same time. When will it happen?
