The Bucket List (2007)

I like both Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson but Nicholson just seemed annoying in this movie. Maybe that was intended. This is your basic white guy/black guy buddy film. It had it’s moments, people cry and in the end everyone learns a lesson. Yay! I’d give it a 6.5/10.

Hancock (2008)

Hey look! Another Will Smith movie. This time he’s a superhero. Looks pretty good to me though. Even though I like movies like these. It comes out July 2nd, 2008.

I fuck on the first date.

So, my curiosity got the best of me, and I took a gander at The Llama Shop, where I saw a girly shirt that says, “I fuck on the first date.”

As much as like chicks that do so, what does this have to do with the llama?

New Joker, Newly Dead
The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.

At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.

The police said they did not suspect foul play. Officials said pills were found near the body.
Not that I care too much. I never seen a movie of his that I’ve thought that was great. A Knight’s Tale was OK and Lords of Dogtown was decent. For some odd reason I’ve never seen Brokeback.

So, I hope he goes down as a great Joker but I doubt it. Cesar Romero & Jack Nicholson are some pretty big shoes to fill.

Plus, a little side note no one knows, Mark Hamill is the voice of the Joker in the Batman and Superman animated series.

Charlie Wilson's War (2007)

A drama based on a Texas congressman Charlie Wilson’s covert dealings in Afghanistan, where his efforts to assist rebels in their war with the Soviets have some unforeseen and long-reaching effects… blah, blah, blah, boring.

I found myself getting up and doing errands during this movie. I’ve heard some people praise this movie also. It just didn’t hold me.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is more of the reason I watched this. Along with the nudity. Tom Hanks isn’t enough for me to want to watch. I probably won’t watch this again.

He Was a Quiet Man (2007)

Christian Slater, eh. Elisha Cuthbert, who? Oh, you meant some hot chick. Nice. William H. Macy, sweet. Sascha Knopf, who again? Oh, another hot chick. Nice.

So this is kinda an American Psycho meet crazy postal worker but for desk jockeys. Sorta like Milton from Office Space. It’s definitely worth a watch if nothing else is on.

Cloverfield (2008)

I saw Cloverfield this afternoon. Initially, when I discovered several months ago that the movie wasn’t about CTHULHU tear-assing around Manhattan I was disappointed, but still curious … I thought “As long it isn’t another ‘Godzilla’, I’m happy” … and I was.

DO NOT expect anything from this movie other than death and destruction, and a cool monster. I walked into the theater expecting to see buildings toppling, people dying, and general chaos and I wasn’t disappointed. It was worth paying the matinee rate to see it on the big screen.

Another plus, is that the monster is amazing, they did an excellent job with it. It’s larger than life, but stops short of being entirely unbelievable; in the sense that I can imagine, and actually almost believe something like that living deep within the depths of the ocean.

I enjoyed the flick, but like I said, all I expected was a lot of chaos, and a cool monster. If you like death, destruction, cool monsters and irony, go see Clvoerfield.

He Moved His Arms and Legs Today

So let me set this up for those who don’t follow football.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Kevin Everett sustained a “catastrophic” and life-threatening spinal-cord injury while trying to make a tackle during the Buffalo Bills’ season opener and is unlikely to walk again, the surgeon who operated on him said Monday.

“A best-case scenario is full recovery, but not likely,” orthopedic surgeon Andrew Cappuccino said. “I believe there will be some permanent neurologic deficit.”

Everett was hurt Sunday after he ducked his head while tackling the Denver Broncos’ Domenik Hixon during the second-half kickoff. Everett dropped face-first to the ground after his helmet hit Hixon high on the left shoulder and side of the helmet.
And then…
December 24, 2007

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — For a few fleeting moments it seemed like nothing had changed in Kevin Everett’s life.

The 25-year-old tight end walked through the Buffalo Bills locker room on Sunday, greeting his teammates one by one, and made them all smile.

“He gave me a big hug,” said receiver Roscoe Parrish, who played with Everett in college at Miami. “Seeing how strong he is and where he’s at. It was a good feeling.”
So, it’s a sad story that has a happy ending, no I mean people are happy, not given handjobs.

Then I saw this last night. There is no hell, but if there was, I’m not going there for laughing at this. It’s flippin’ funny.
