Hockey Webcasts

I guess I found this site a little late in the session but next session I’ll take more advantage of it.

With the help of SopCast and VLC you can stream pretty much any live hockey game. Here’s a sample of the quality…

Bit rate: 204Kbps
Video Size: 256 x 192
Audio Codec: MPEG Audio Layer 3
Video Codec: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC

Yea, if that confused you, it’s like a YouTube video. Double-sized or full-screen from 10 feet away is comparable to your standard analog. Eh, it’s better than nothing.

The site has YouTube links for ever games highlights. You can also watched archived games with Joost. Which I haven’t installed.

The only small issue I see is, when I was watching the Caps get their asses handed to them by Chicago, the guy who was streaming the game flipped over to the final minutes of the Ducks/Stars game.

The when you have SopCast you can watch a whole bunch of other stuff. VoD channels gave me a little trouble but the live channels worked just fine. There are ads but online images while the stream first buffers.
