Resume Tips That Don’t Suck

I’ve recently turned a friends resume from a .doc file to a web based resume. Thinking at that poing, that I should review mine and update it if need be. After forgetting about it for a week now, this stumbled across my Internet browsing path today.

I’ve read crap about how to build a resume and it’s all been the same. This actually gives a better insight of what to do and not do.

Some friends have told me that you should paste every buzzword you can think of in a resume. I’ve never understood how that makes you different from those who’ve done the same.

The only bad part about this article is that I can’t just cut & paste into my resume but, it just might make me seem more professional than I really am.

Celebrity Look-a-likes at Work

One reason I’m upset that I don’t have a camera phone is because I can’t share the celebrity look-a-likes at my place of employment. I usually like to play this game in public when I get bored. But there are three people I see on a daily basis that are celebrity twins.

First is this one guy that sits not to far from me. He reminds me of a Vogon from the movie Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. He walks all slow and has the same back hump. I don’t know if he writes poetry. But if he did, you’d know how good it’d be.

Secondly, we have a WWF classic. Outside smoking everyday I see Captain Lou Albano. Minus the rubber bands. If he had them in, I’d hi-five him every time I’d see him.

Finally, and just to piss me off, there’s Omar Epps. The guy, from what I can tell is cool. I never have really talked to him but he seems nice enough. I’m just upset because Omar Epps probably get poon thrown at him on an hourly basis and this guy must get it atleast on a daily just for the mere fact his almost a spitting image of Epps.

I know this could had been better with some comparison photos. I’ll see what I can do. There’s nothing stopping you from posting yours though.

No Holds Barred

We’ve all heard it but do you know where it originated? I didn’t. Here we go.
Meaning

Without restrictions or rules.

Origin

The holds here are wrestling holds and that’s where the phrase originates. Wrestling has long been an Olympic sport, administrated by FILA, the sport’s governing body. There are sets of rules for each of the various styles of wrestling. Prior to the formation of rules, wrestling was a free-form affair. There was no need to mention any such phrase as no holds barred, as that was taken for granted. It wasn’t until after the sport became regulated that bouts where those rules didn’t apply were billed as such.

no holds barredThe earliest reference I can find to no holds barred is from Manitoba Daily Free Press, February 1892:

“Wm. Gibbs, the Kansas man, and Dennis Gallacher, of Buffalo, engaged in a wrestling match at the opera house here tonight. Gibbs was strangled into insensibility and may die. The conditions of the match were best two in three falls Greco-Roman style; no holds barred.”

Forms of contemporary no holds barred wrestling in which rules are thrown out the window are Hardcore Wrestling and Cage Fighting.

Hulk Hogan starred in a 1989 film based on free-form wrestling – ‘No Holds Barred’. Its tagline was “No Ring. No Ref. No Rules.”
This just randomly came up yesterday. By the way, it’s not “bars” or “barge”.

The Lllamas… A Softball Team?!

So I saw this guy yesterday wearing a yellow baseball jersey with a caution sign on the front of it. In the caution sign? You guessed it. A llama.

On the back it had whatever his number was and instead of a name, it said “The Llamas”.

Anybody seen this before? And immediately think of Boofer?

Facebook

So i totally did a general search on Facebook for your name Boof….apparently its a popular name with over 36 people sharing it…….only 20 people for me……lol…just a random comment to get the day started
