Working 99 to 55

Jason Taylor enjoyed his first day as a Skin. I don’t know if it’ll make much of a difference on the Skins D. I’ve got nothing against the guy, he’s not a downgrade in any since, I just don’t think he’s an upgrade. He’ll most likely be playing left after being know for playing right. The past couple seasons he’s been on the left.

During training camp today he got questioned a little about his shoes. Since Nike is a little slow on the new burgundy and gold, he had to tap dance in his orange and teals. Also, I’m getting tired of the dancing jokes, unless told by another player.

Redskins Season Tickets

Loki and I are now proud owners of Redskins season tickets. 2 seats, up in section 416 row teenish, I forgot already. We would had been in 449 but we were too busy bullshiting on the phone for a minute.

As explained to us, next season we get a better pick of what sections we want. I said, “Sections 301 or 342″, Loki said “$1600″, I said, “Eh, nevermind”. I’ll be happy with some low row 50 yard line 400’s or higher row 50 yard line 200’s.

So, if anyone wants tickets minus the Cowboys and Rams games. Loki possibly would also like to go to division opponent games, I.E. Giants and Eagles. But all others, I think are open for the taking. Those include, in order of appearance: Saints, Cardinals, Browns, and Steelers.

One Hundred Push Ups

Since I have a hard time doing push ups, ah hell, a push up, I figured I’d give this program a try along with my Couch to 5K plan.

The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

I found this a bit ago and started trying it out. I’m just starting out on Week 3 now. As a part-time smoker, it hasn’t been bad either. No stopping and nearly throwing up as I have in the past. It’s pretty sweet that from our place to the light off Rolling is pretty much 1 mile, give or take some feet. So far I’ve been covering 2 miles each run. Which is just the natural timing of the run, it just happens to be about 2 miles total. According to the schedule, I should be able to jog the whole 2 miles in about 4 more weeks.

This week may be a little tougher. I get to do some 3 minute runs. It’s seeming to build up nicely and not overexerting me at all, so, I’ll trust the plan. I’m sure I’ll be fine and as long as I don’t stare at my stopwatch the whole time.

Yankees To Sign Billy Crystal?
The New York Yankees will sign actor and comedian Billy Crystal to a one-day contract.

With the approval of MLB commissioner Bud Selig, the Yankees announced that Crystal will sign the contract and work out with the team at Legends Field on Wednesday, before playing in Thursday’s Grapefruit League game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Which is a bigger joke? Billy with the Yankees or Jordan with the White Sox?

OvechKam

Basically the gist is, they are going to have a dedicated camera on Alexander Ovechkin throughout the game. I don’t think they’ve done something like this since Wayne Gretzky or Mario Lemieux.
Bethesda, MD (March 5, 2008) – Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, the leader in local sports television, will unveil its latest innovation, the “OvechKam,” when the Capitals host the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, March 12.

This unique broadcast, which will be available on CSN+ and replayed on Comcast On Demand, will feature a dedicated view that follows Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin throughout the entire game, providing viewers with an unprecedented look at the most prolific player in the NHL today.

Ovechkin ranks first in the NHL in points, goals, points per game, and is tied for first in game winning goals, and the “OvechKam” will enable viewers to study the All-Star’s every move, his reactions and all of his goals, up close and personal. Ovechkin recently made history on March 3 netting his 50th goal of the season in the same game in which he recorded a hat trick, joining only Wayne Gretzky on that list.

Comcast SportsNet senior vice president and general manager Rebecca Schulte said, “Alex Ovechkin is the hottest thing on ice today, and as the home of the Caps, we’re pleased to debut this innovation so our viewers don’t miss a moment of the action.”

The CSN+ broadcast will use a split screen so viewers are able to watch the “OvechKam” and regular game broadcast simultaneously. Comcast SportsNet’s primary channel will air the Capitals-Flames live in high definition with the traditional full-game view.

This special CSN+ broadcast will be available to customers in the Comcast SportsNet viewing area on Comcast, Dish Network, Antietam Cable, Cox, OpenBand Multimedia and DirecTV. Immediately following the game, Comcast Digital Cable subscribers can experience “OvechKam” on Comcast On Demand. Viewers can check ComcastSportsNet.com to find the channel number for CSN+ on their local provider.
As of now, Ovechkin has 95 points (1st) with 54 goals (1st). Although the Caps are hard pressed to make the playoffs. Some one needs to remember Alex that he’s not on a winning team.

Next year might be the Capitals year. If they keep all the current players the have, like the newly signed Sergei Fedorov. Also, if Huet can take over for Kolzig or if Kolzig steps up some how. If they can stay healthy, the Caps can be one of the top teams in 2008-09.

Offseason '08 NFL News

There’s movement on my Rams home front.

Jeff Wilkins retires after a 14 year career in the NFL. 11 years with the Rams. Wilkins is one of the most successful kickers in league history. I believe he holds all the Rams kicker records. He’s replacement? Seahawks Chris Brown. Brown signed a five-year contract. Not only did they pick a decent kicker, they pulled him from a rival. Two birds, one stone.

To free up money, the Rams released Mr. L.A. Ram, Isaac Bruce. Bruce was to make $5 million in 2008 and rejected a $3 million offer, so the Rams counter offer was to release him. Bruce spent 14 seasons with the Rams where he became one of the most productive receivers in league history. He has 942 catches with 14,109 and 84 touchdowns for his career. Those numbers rank him sixth in catches, third in yards and tied for 13th in touchdown receptions in league history. All isn’t finished for Bruce, he signed a 2 year $6 million deal with the 49ers. What!? Doesn’t that equal… whatever. It’s not a bad fit for Bruce. He’ll be the No. 1 receiver and will be re-united with the now San Fran offensive coordinator, Mike Martz.

Now if stloiusrams.com would just remove Wilkins & Bruce from the random player profiles on the side of the web site.

Chris Long, DE from VT, might be the Rams first pick (#2 overall) in the draft. Chris Long as in Howie Long’s oldest son.

Joe Gibbs Retires, Again

As even a shook to me, Gibbs retires with a year left on his five year contract. After a four win streak at the end of the season against top teams like the Giants, Vikings and even the Cowboys, to push them in to the playoffs, I thought for sure Gibbs saved his own ass. What’s done is done. I just hope AHC Al Saunders doesn’t become the new head coach.

I guess its back to Charolette, NC and NASCAR. After all, he is 67. Maybe it is time to retire, relax and be a grandparent.

As for those who didn’t know. Gibbs went 124-60 during the regular season and 16-5 during the playoffs during his first tenure with the Redskins. He won Super Bowls following the 1982, 1987 and 1991 seasons with three different quarterbacks.

He retired for 11 years.

During his second tenure. Gibbs came aways with a 31-36 record, with two playoff appearances.

His final career totals: 171-101, including 17-7 in the playoffs, a career .629 winning percentage that ranks third all-time behind George Halas and Don Shula among coaches with more than 125 wins.

I hate the Eagles

Well not really, but Dallas sucked last night and its all Jessica Simpson’s fault….

When Tony was dating Carrie Underwood and she showed up at one of the games, he made so many errors and ending up costing Dallas the game….the same is true of yesterday’s game. What’s up with all the interceptions and sacks? Could he not see the Eagles defender charging at him right down the middle of the field? Geez Romo….leave the girls at home and just play the damn game
