NHL: 2005-2006 Blues -Top 2 Bottom

Now with their record 25 straight years of making the playoffs ended, they figured they should round off the whole fairy tale by coming in DEAD FUCKING LAST this year, 21-46-15 (57pts). There’s no excuses to give. The Blues are verteran type team. In the end off careers now-a-days, moves are made for more money or a shot at the cup. It’s hard to keep a veteran team together, let alone make one that can keep up with younger players. Here’s a small list proving my point.

Chris Pronger (12 years) now in EDM
Pavol Demitra (11 years) now in LA
Scott Mellanby (19 years) now in ATL
Al MacInnis (23 years) now retired
Keith Tkachuk (13 years) still in STL
Patrick Lalime (9 years) still in STL
Scott Young (17 years) resigned back with STL
Michael Sillinger (13 years, 7 teams) in STL now
Dallas Drake (13 years) still in STL
Doug Weight (14 years) left to CAR

I don’t know what to watch now. The Blues suck, finished 30th, and someone forgot to tell Ovechkin with his 52 goals and 54 assists, that the Caps are still in 27th place overall. There’s always next year, right? Riiiiight.

The 2005 NFL Divisional Playoffs & Conference Championships

Wow. Well I went 1-3 this week. Who knew Carilina could keep running the ball well, even agianst Chicago. Or that the Patriots would turn the ball over five times. Or the Steelers just out played the rested Colts and win the time of possesion battle. Not me.

The Skins just don’t have an offense that can scare another team. Once they do than, then people can start talking about how “good” they are. They went on a six game winning streak, and they were bound to burn out. Seattle has an OK defense but every Redskins fan forgot to notice who had the number 2 ranked total offense in the 2005 regular season. There was a poll about this game. Only two states had the ‘Skins winning. Maryland & Virginia. Can you say NFL blinders?

Carolina is running the ball very well which sets up their passing game nicely. They owned the Giants and continued with the Bears. This week Foster is out and Alexander is expected to play. It’s going to be tough to see the Pathers match up their running game with the Seahawks. Plus, the Seahawks can use their passing game to setup the run. A luxury I believe Carolina doesn’t have.

Steelers handled the Colts. Can they handle the Broncos? They’ll have to use the same game plan to advance. Bad news is, Denver knows what Pittsburg has to do to stop them. I see Denver attacking by ground to keep the defense out on the feild and win the time of possesion. A tired defense can’t beat a rested Jake Plummer in the 3rd & 4th quarters. Pittsburg is going to have to take 100% advantage of any turnover.

Marcus Vick, The Dumbest Thing Since PopoZão

Granted, PopoZão has only been out for a short minute but, Marcus has been able to make himself look like a complete moron in one weekend. OK, maybe it really took 3 years but that’s not my point.

This kid was talked about and hyped up just like Eli was being said to be just as talented as Peyton. All Eli and Marcus had/have to do is show up to the draft, get selected and start collecting paychecks. Their name sakes paved the path for them. You have to give it to Marcus though. He doesn’t need the help of his father to look like an ass.

Over this past weekend Marcus “dismissed” from VTech football team for his little antic during the Gator Bowl. If you don’t remember of didn’t see, he “stomped” on the left calf of Louisville defensive end Elvis Dumervil. First it was and accident then he blamed it on “competitive emotions taking control”. Did he forget he was on national TV? Did it look intentional? You make the call!

OK, so what. He got pissed in a game and tried to physically injure someone. Isn’t that what they are supposed to do? Maybe a little but you’re not supposed to stand on the guys leg like its a tire iron on a lug that just won’t loosen.

Fast forward 24 hours from Saturday’s Gator Bowl to Sunday evening at a southern Virginia McDonalds parking lot. Picture this. Your a little pissed you got kicked off your college football team and you’ve just announced your making you’re making yourself available for the NFL Draft. Feel on top of the world don’t you? Sure do! How can we top this day of? Nothing say fun more than pulling a gun out on a 17 year old at Mickey D’s. Nice.

Let us take a stroll down Memory Lane.
Sept. 2, 2003 — Suspended for one game by coach Frank Beamer for undisclosed reason.
Wah! Nobody loves me! He then proceed to go eat worms.
In February 2004, he was charged with misdemeanors for allegedly giving alcohol to underage girls and having sex with a 15-year-old at a party the month before. That May, he was convicted of three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $2,250. He was found innocent on the charge of having sex with the 15-year-old.
Hey, you gotta admit, nothings better then 15 year old drunken snatch. It’s hard to find a female to bang at college. Especially in Blacksburg. You can’t got to any where nice because all the restaurants are bars. Plus your so busy being the quarterback of a Division I college team.
On the morning of July 3, 2004 he was charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop. Three days later, he was suspended from the Tech football team. A month later, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving and no contest to marijuana possession. He was fined $300, temporarily lost his license, and ordered to perform community service and enter drug counseling. The same day, he was suspended from Tech for the entire season.
Opps, my bad. It’s hard to see out the window when the inside of the car is cloudy. Actually, police said he was clocked at 86 mph, 21 mph above the speed limit. I think I heard a rumor that big brother took away kid brothers car that was bought for him.
Cleared to return to the team in January 2005, Vick helped the team to a 7-1 record, but controversy still followed; during a win Oct. 1 at West Virginia, he made an obscene gesture to jeering fans. Vick apologized the next day.
Obscene?!? He was telling the other teams fans that they were number one in his book. Yep, right after the West Virginia fans praised Vick’s performance and said that they wished him the best of luck. Yep. Right after they were done bangin’ there sisters in the stands.
On Dec. 17, he was pulled over in Hampton and charged with speeding and driving with a suspended license.
I guess driving fast from point A to point B doesn’t result in less time on the road and being caught driving on a suspended. The math looked good on paper.

Basically his stock is/has been falling. I’d expect him to for 4th or 5th round, maybe 6th but there’s probably some team out there with a secret eye on him to take him 1st, 2nd or 3rd round.

If he’s not careful, I see Marcus having a nice “four year, three team, Lawrence Phillips” career.

UT Wins the Rose Bowl & Move into #1 NCAA Champion spot

Yay….okay, so the general topic of this post is in the title. I was betting against UT the entire game, seeing as USC has been #1 all year long, but UT pulled out the game winning TD with 26 seconds left in the game, and as if that wasn’t enough, they go for the 2 pt. conversion to make sure they couldn’t be beat if USC came back with a FG at the end. What an awesome game! The morning after the game, Dallas was a sea of orange and white!

Top Draft Busts of the Modern Era

With the NFL Draft this weekend this article was appropriate, I certainly found it interesting.

The Redskins only made the list once (Schuler)…. But the front page of the article was so appropriate. An OT that Green Bay picked up number 2 in the overall draft in 89. Because he was so much better than Barry Sanders, so good I forgot his name in the 90 seconds it’s taken me to write this. Anyway it was a trip down memory lane…

NHL negotiations "breakthrough"

2005 Pro Bowl

I forgot we had one more week of football left. Not that the game is going to be good. I just think right now, the AFC has all the talent in the league.

Basically, all I care to see is if anyone gets injuried this weekend.

Super Bowl Bound, Maybe

That’s what I am as of now. I haven’t decided fully yet but, by Monday I should have made up my mind. It’s New England and Philly, ehh, all the way in Florida, ehh, but its the effing Super Bowl. I’m 50/50 now. Tommorow I’ll just say fuck it and ask for those days off.

Plus I’ll see my moms down there. She lives 20 minutes outside Jacksonville. I guess I’m really 60/40 on going. For those who know me, I hate to travel. Ocean City is enough of a trip for me.

Fucking St. Loius. They shoulda beaten Atlanta and Philly.

Bottom of the pile

How it feels at the bottom of the pile.

Ever wonder what goes on at the bottom of a fumble pile?

Alan Faneca, Steelers Guard

Two guys were pulling my arms apart. A guy was digging into my ribs. Another guy was digging into my ear.

IKE REESE, Eagles Linebacker

[Patriots linebacker] Mike Vrabel had my testicles in his hand, and he was squeezing them.

BEN LEBER, Chargers Linebacker

The go-to spots are the eyes and the family jewels. If anybody grabs your family jewels, you are going to let go.
